Erectile Dysfunction: How to treat it?


ED and its causes:

Erectile dysfunction (ED), or impotence, is not just devastating for men but equally devastating for his partner as well. It can ruin a relationship to a considerable extent. So, the first thing one should do is find out what is causing the ED.
ED is basically the inability in men to make an erection or maintain the same for a sufficient amount of time during a sexual intercourse. It affects men of all ages. However, it is more common in men aged between 40 to 70.

ED can occur for a variety of reasons including-
  • Hormonal problems
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Recent surgery, etc.

What should you do?

There are various treatments available for ED including surgery, use of external devices and medication. Experts say that majority of the men suffering from erectile dysfunction prefer medication to surgery. One of the most commonly preferred drugs to treat ED is Cialis.

 

Cialis and its Dosing Instruction:

Cialis is the brand name for Tadalafil and is one of the types of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (or PDE5 inhibitors) which is used to treat Erectile dysfunction or impotence. It works by increasing the blood flow to the penile nerve so as to help a man to get and maintain an erection during a sexual intercourse.

Before starting the medication, one should consult his doctor and follow the guidelines-
  • The recommended dose is 10 mg for most men.
  • Cialis 2.5mg and 5mg are ideal for daily use
  • The dose can be increased as per doctor’s advice and also according to one’s tolerability.
  • This medicine is to be taken orally, with or without food.
  • It should be taken once a day and not more than that.
  • Cialis 10mg can have an effect that lasts for 36 hours.



Side Effects:

Most common side effects reported are-
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Muscle pain
  • Back pain
  • Pain in the arms or legs
  • Upset stomach


 Precautions:

Like any other drug, Cialis might also have interactions with other drugs. It is always advisable to refer to the doctor’s advice and take precautions accordingly-
  • If you are on any other medication, inform your doctor before you start to take Cialis;
  • Inform your doctor about your medical history if any;
  • Taking Cialis can result a drop in the blood pressure to some extent. Such drops can have either minor or major impacts;
  • This med can also have serious impacts if you are a patient with liver or kidney problems;
  • It is to be noted that Cialis does not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). One should always use protective measures;
  • Avoid the intake of alcohol or at least limit its intake while on this medication;
  • If u happen to notice any other side effect while on this medication, contact your doctor immediately.



Like any other medicine, Cialis should also be taken correctly according to an individual’s tolerability and potency. Also, Cialis is not a drug that gives sexual stimulation but all it does is facilitate the chemical processes which permit the blood circulation to the penile nerve.
