Erectile Dysfunction and its causes:

If you are experiencing a lack of proper erection or a decreased time span in maintaining the same, then it might be a possible symptom of Erectile Dysfunction (ED).
Commonly known as Impotence, it is not just a devastating experience for men but equally devastating for his partner as well. ED can have an adverse impact on most relationships.
The following conditions are generally common in men suffering from ED-

]    The good news, however, is that  ED can be treated. There is a wide range of options available in the market such as surgery, use of external devices,  injection therapies, etc. However, most people prefer oral drugs as the safest and effective option to treat ED. And, when we say the word effective, the pill that should immediately come to your mind is Viagra.

What is Viagra and how does it work?

Viagra, which is commonly known as Sildenafil, is the most recommended drug to treat ED. It helps obtain and maintain a firm erection for a long time without many side effects.

Generic Viagra or Sildenafil is a form of PDE5 (phosphodiesterase type 5) inhibitor which helps increase the flow of blood to the penile nerve so as to maintain an erection long enough for  any sexual intercourse. It generally works within 30 to 40 minutes after its intake.

How should I take Viagra?

  • ·         Viagra should be taken 30 to 60 minutes before any sexual intercourse
  • ·         It may be taken with or without food
  • ·         The maximum dose for Viagra is 200 mg and can be reduced to as low as 50 mg
  • ·         Viagra should be taken once per day.

  • ·         Anti-fungal medicine
  • ·         Medicines to treat high blood pressure

Possible Side Effects of Viagra:

  • ·         Headache
  • ·         Dizziness
  • ·         Drowsiness

Important Information:

  • ·         There is a potential risk of cardiac arrest for people with a medical history of cardiovascular problems
  • ·         Patients with severe renal impairment are not recommended to use this drug
  • ·         There is also a high risk associated with vision loss and hearing impairment if these PDE5 inhibitors are used for a long period of time
  • ·         It is a constant reminder that ED pills do not protect you against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
  • ·         Safety information has not been established for the pediatric use of this drug and therefore, should be avoided.

That said, Impotence is a common disorder found not only in men between 40 to 70 years of age but is common across all ages. It should be handled with proper care and medications should be taken as per the doctor’s prescription only. This post does not promote use of drugs without prior prescription and supervision of a concerned healthcare provider.
