do not recommend any dependence on this painkiller alone.
How does it work to treat musculoskeletal pain?
From the pain-afflicted musculoskeletal area, the nerves
send pain signals to the brain through certain receptors. The brain first
processes the signals and then perceives the information as pain.
It is seen that after its absorption,
Carisoprodol works by binding to those receptors which act as relay
stations for the nerves. As a result, the painful sensations get blocked out
between the brain and the nerves, causing relief from the discomfort of pain.
In simple words, Soma pill is an effective muscle relaxer
that helps in changing the brain’s perception of pain. It doesn’t treat the
underlying cause of the pain but, helps in facilitating the underlying
treatment.
Why Soma pill is also called a mental relaxer?
Apart from being a muscle relaxer, it is also called a
mental relaxer. This is because it does not only target the musculoskeletal
fibers but the overall central nervous system as a whole. It helps drive away
the pain induced anxiety.
At the same time, it also inhibits the reuptake of serotonin
and norepinephrine into the nerves by increasing its availability in the
brainstem. This results in mood-elevating effects that relieve us from the
discomfort of pain.
How long does Carisoprodol last in the body?
After its intake, Carisoprodol can kick in within 30 minutes
of its intake. After this it is broken down to meprobamate. The peak effects of
this medication start showing within an hour.
The overall biological half life of Soma pill is 2 hours.
After this, it starts getting eliminated through renal and non renal-routes. In
a period of 4-6 hours, the drug is seen to eliminate from the body through
renal and non-renal routes.
However, the exact duration for which Carisoprodol can last
in your body will depend on the individual metabolism. This duration can become
three times as long if the metabolic process of the person is slow.
